Obama wants $1000 billion to help fund health reform- EASY
Barak Obama wants $1,000 billion over ten years that's $1 trillion to fund health reform.
He is trying to figure out where this money will be coming from. If I was the President I would do some simple mathematics and from this come up with a very simple way so he can provide the US heath systems with a much needed financial injection. This is very simple - or is it just so simple he can't see this.
Roughly each year the US military is spending obscene amounts of money on it's military machine. In 2009 it was approx $580 billion so lets take that figure as the mean and multiply it by 10 years.
$580 b X 10 = 5,800,000,000 or simply put $5.8 TRILLION dollars that they will happily spend on the Military and Military operations. This is a sum that I cannot even fathom!!
What about he takes just 10% of this expenditure over 2 years and gives it to the Heath System.
That equates to over the $1,0000 billion he is trying to find.
The US will STILL be the largest military in the world
The US will still be spending the largest amount on it's military each year compared to ANY other country in the world.
The US can still be the big boys in school so they can bully the other kids.
Obama will have the funding for the new Health Care System
Everyone is happy !!!!

Why is it that when it comes to the US military everybody seems to have the attitude of "that's OK it's for the military so no questions asked?"
Fair enough is the USA had a tiny military and they were under constant attack but they are not. It will take the combined military forces of the next 8 countries on the list of Military power to be EQUAL to the US Military.
Something just does not add up here. Or is the US just showing typical paranoia and need to be bigger and better than everyone?

Why can't it just be as simple as this. I think it's about time that the Human Race take a leap of faith in each other and disband all the nuclear weapons. As many experts and even military leaders say "Nuclear weapons are useless..... AND the cold war is over, so why are we spending billions on these weapons of potential DEATH."

Below is just a part of the script from the award winning film about peace and reconciliation and the importance of Peace in the 21st Century "Soldiers of Peace"
"We identified over 125 areas that when you remove the verses from the Bible and the Koran you think that this could just act as the same scripture. So that through it people can begin to understand that though they differ in their spirituality they can be one because they have one common humanity. For four months we worked with religious leaders. We have been able to bring Christian and Muslim religious leaders to sign a Peace Pact. Amazingly they all agreed."
This is a perfect example of 2 opposite sides simply sitting down and talking instead of fighting. Paster James & Imam Ishafa were trying to kill each other many years ago and almost succeeded. But now they sit down and talk. As the above mentions their religions actually have allot in common.
I think more people, especially in the Middle East should take this as an example and try to do the same. No one gets killed by talking - not that I know of anyway.

The prison statistics are absolutely amazing for the USA - over 2.2 million are currently in jail.
Does this have anything to do with Privatisation of the Prison system? food for thought anyway.
New Zealand comes in at No 1 for this years results - I will not tell you where America is in the rankings but have a guess from 1 the most peaceful to 140 the least peaceful. Write down your guess where America stands and then click on the link below.

Global Military Spending verses the UN Millennium Goals 2015
Global military spending reached a record $1,464 billion last year with the United States taking up by far the biggest share of the total, Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI) said.
Arms shipments were up 4 percent worldwide from 2007 and 45 percent higher than in 1999, the think tank said in its annual study of the global arms trade.
OK we are in a global recession right !!! Yet the world is still spending record amounts of money on the Military machine $1.4 Trillion that we know of. Look at this table !!
Defense Spending In The Billions: The United States, with a budget of $535.9 billion annually, spends more on defense than the next fourteen nations combined. One wonders if all that spending by the United States is really necessary, considering that the U.S. military budget is more than four times that of the next largest spender, China, at $121.9 billion. If America’s NATO allies are included, that adds another $207.2 billion in defense spending. Those countries are the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Italy, Canada, and Spain.
Now just think outside the box for a second !!
The UN Millennium Development Goals require about $140 billion to achieve these goals
More than halfway to the 2015 deadline to achieve the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), major advances in the fight against poverty and hunger have begun to slow or even reverse as a result of the global economic and food crises, a progress report by the United Nations has found. The assessment, launched by UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon in Geneva, warns that, despite many successes, overall progress has been too slow for most of the targets to be met by 2015.
Global Military Spending is $1.4 Trillion - so could we not take 10% of the Military spending $1.4 Billion and put this over to the UN Millennium Goals?? or is this just not possible.. to 'Out' there thinking some would say.
If the UN had 10% of the Military Spending then they would be able to achieve the following.
END POVERTY - UNIVERSAL EDUCATION - GENDER EQUALITY
CHILD HEALTH - MATERNAL HEALTH - COMBAT HIV/AIDS - ENVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINABILITY
GLOBAL PARTNERSHIP
Pretty pressing issues really - BUT hey lets just spend more on the Military when there is no real threat and less wars than there were 10 years ago - it just does not make any sense.

Bush was old school war mongering and rather dumb
Obama is new school looking and thinking and acting forward - Obama is actually talking to countries instead of invading and bombing them. This surely is a good start !! I can feel a world shift finally.
In an exclusive interview, he expressed regret at the bitter divisions over the war and said that he was troubled about how his country had been misunderstood. “I think that in retrospect I could have used a different tone, a different rhetoric.”
Phrases such as “bring them on” or “dead or alive”, he said, “indicated to people that I was, you know, not a man of peace”. He said that he found it very painful “to put youngsters in harm’s way”. He added: “I try to meet with as many of the families as I can. And I have an obligation to comfort and console as best as I possibly can. I also have an obligation to make sure that those lives were not lost in vain.”
"Miss understood" What !!!! sorry for invading a country for no reason at all .... WMD yeah right!!
His language is even at war.

What is this !!!
I just love this image --- it will tell you and me and others allot about your personality.

I would love to get your feedback here. When I was filming in Colombia Bogata Cesar Lopes the famous musician was busking on the street with the Escopetarra which is in fact a decommissioned AK-47 machine gun taken from the FARC rebels. This gun has killed numerous people in one of the world longest and bloodiest war in history. It was interesting watching peoples reactions when the Escopetarra was handed over to them to hold. 2 things took place they either held it as a gun and pretended to shoot people OR they held it as an electric guitar and started playing the guitar.
This was very fascinating to watch because I started thinking does this show what goes on in peoples minds - People are either Peace Makers or War makers.
Anyway some food for thought there!

My God what an amazing women is Gill Hicks.
I interviewed Gill Hicks in London while filming the peace documentary Soldiers of Peace.
If more people had Gills' attitude then the world would truly be an incredible place, I would just like to post this interview grab from the film. Please pass this on.
"What can I do and what we can we all do to own a piece of peace and I know that would I can achieve I know that I might not be able to personally achieve Global Peace on my own but what I can achieve is peace within my home and so I start to look at that and think well that is quite interesting because my neighbor could feel the same way then singularly we have achieved Peace in our own domain and if that then starts to accumulate then that becomes our area and it’s a more peaceful area then it starts to ripple out from that and that then becomes a more Peaceful town a more Peaceful city and Gosh can you imagine maybe the ripple effect of that a more Peaceful country because it comes down to my own patch and what I can do to effect my own life and my own domain I think that is really powerful because we can achieve that you know and that doesn’t mean that I have to go off and be on the front line"
Gill is at Peace with herself and she is so much spreading her peace around.
IRA man -- Peace & Reconciliation a Killer talks to a victim
How are we meant to solve our differences if we don't TALK to each other.
It seems pretty simple and the thing to do to move forward. BUT others are not with my thoughts on this.
Pat Magee in the early 80's was an active member of the IRA. He killed 6 people while trying to assassinate former British Prime Minister Maggie Thatcher at the Grand Hotel in Brighton. Maggie survived the bombing!!!
Jo Berry is the daughter of one of Pat's victims. Think about the dynamics here for a second.

Both Pat and Jo have embarked on a mission.. and that mission is a mission of PEACE & RECONCILIATION they are simply doing what other are not and that is talking. As Pat said in the film "How are you meant to overcome these problems if you don't talk"
I commend Jo for accepting Pat and I commend Pat in making this happen. They are an amazing dynamic couple who have overcome massive differences in life. Pat killed Jo's father and they are TALKING, this is absolutely amazing - they are making change in this world.
They are making a leap of faith to move forward and excel.
